One of the league’s best players (David Pastrnak) thinks one of the other league’s best players (Leon Draisaitl) should win the Hart Trophy.
Pastrnak made it crystal clear who it should be.
“It’s absolutely no question … It’s going to be and it should be Draisaitl,” he told reporters during a conference call Monday.
I mean, are we surprised? By all accounts, Draisaitl, who scored 110 points, had the best season among any NHL’er this year outscoring his nearest competitor — teammate Connor McDavid — by 13 points.
The ballots were officially filed by the Professional Hockey Writers Association, who vote on the Hart Trophy, on Monday, so it will be interesting to see if Draisaitl is in fact the Hart winner.
NHL.com writers voted Draisaitl was awarded the unofficial Hart trophy by 19 voting points more than his next closest competitor, Nathan MacKinnon.
