Hockey is just hours away.

For the first time since the Edmonton Oilers were eliminated by the Anaheim Ducks from the 2026 playoffs, fans of the NHL’s northernmost team will get to watch their team play. Well… kind of.

Monday evening will see the Oilers pack up a bunch of their rookies and head three hours south to Calgary, where they’ll be set for the Next Gen showcase game against the Flames’ rookies. There’s no word yet on the lines for the Oilers rookies, but the team will be bringing a contingent that already has some pro experience, and others just cutting their teeth.

Josh Samanski, Isaac Howard, Quinn Hutson, and Connor Clattenburg are all expected to play in the game, as are members of the Oilers’ 2026 draft class, including Rudolfs Berzkalns, Andrew Robinson, Caden Harvey, and Ryan Cameron.
