Connor Ingram is going to market.
The Edmonton Oilers netminder of one season will test free agency, according to Sportsnet’s Mark Spector.
“Negotiations with Oilers not fruitful,” Spector tweeted just before 9:00 A.M. on Wednesday morning. “Would have liked to have remained an Oiler. This tells us Oilers have settled elsewhere on a netminder.”
It was previously reported by Spector that Ingram was “bullish” on re-signing with the Oilers. He has the best save percentage of available UFAs who played more than five games, with a .899sv% over the course of 32 games. He finished with a 16-10-3 record and a 2.60 goals against average.
General manager Stan Bowman has been linked to multiple goalies in the trade market, including prospect Sebastian Cossa of the Detroit Red Wings and Devon Levi of the Buffalo Sabres. Cossa was dealt at the draft to the Utah Mammoth for a first-round pick.
Meanwhile, conversations at the draft continued on Levi, where Elliotte Friedman said the Oilers did “real research” on the Rochester American. The Sabres have been linked to former Hart Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck, who might be available in a trade for the right price.
The Oilers have sniffed around Sergei Bobrovsky, according to Friedman in a late Tuesday night article.
Ingram has previously been linked to the Ottawa Senators, who are looking for a backup or a more stable crease after a tumultuous year between the pipes.
Spector also says not to rule out Kasperi Kapanen re-signing with “ongoing conversations between the two sides” he said on Wednesday morning.
