Edmonton Oilers forward Jason Dickinson returned to practice on Sunday, a day ahead of Game 1 of their first-round matchup against the Anaheim Ducks.

The Oilers took to the Rogers Place ice Sunday morning, where Dickinson skated on the third line alongside Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jack Roslovic. Dickinson missed the final three regular season games after blocking a shot against the San Jose Sharks.

He wasn’t the only notable injured Oiler who took the ice in his regular spot, as for the second straight practice, Leon Draisaitl skated on the second line alongside Vasily Podkolzin and Kasperi Kapanen. He missed the final 14 regular season games after suffering a knee injury against the Nashville Predators on March 14.

Connor McDavid remained in his spot on the Oilers top line alongside Matt Savoie and Zach Hyman, while Adam Henrique — not Josh Samanski — centred the fourth line, flanked by Colton Dach and Trent Frederic.

Edmonton’s blue line remained the same, with Mattias Ekholm and Evan Bouchard on the top pairing, Darnell Nurse and Connor Murphy on the second pair, and Jake Walman and Ty Emberson on the third.

Despite Dickinson skating, there’s no guarantee he’s in the lineup for Game 1. He skated on his own on Friday, but his skating in his regular third-line centre spot was a good sign. During Friday’s practice, the Oilers had Nugent-Hopkins centring Henrique and Roslovic on the third line, while Samanski centred the fourth between Dach and Frederic.

“It’s doctors allowing him to play, and he’s itching to get out there and he wants to be part of this,” Knoblauch said of Dickinson on Friday.

The Ducks has some injury concerns of their own, as Radko Gudas missed seven of the final eight games of Anaheim’s regular season with a lower-body injury.

Game 1 between the Oilers and Ducks is set for Monday night at 8 p.m. MT in Edmonton.
