The Edmonton Oilers have issued qualifying offers to five restricted free agents, the club announced Monday.
Forwards Colton Dach, Roby Järventie, and Owen Michaels, as well as defenceman Spencer Stastney, all received qualifying offers. The team didn’t offer them to forwards Josh Bloom and Matvey Petrov.
Players receiving quality offers
Colton Dach, forward
The Oilers acquired Dach, 23, ahead of the NHL trade deadline alongside Jason Dickinson from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a first-round pick in the 2027 draft and winger Andrew Mangiapane. He drew in for eight regular-season games, scoring two goals and four points, adding an assist in five playoff games. AFP Analytics, a website that projects what future free agent contracts could look like, suggest the most likely contract for Dach is a two-year deal paying him $1.74 million per year.
Roby Järventie, forward
Järventie, 23, signed a contract in the Swiss League in early May, and it’s unknown if he will return to the Oilers organization. Last summer, he had signed a deal with Tappara, the same organization where his younger brothers play, but eventually re-signed with the Oilers. His overseas deal was reportedly to secure a playing spot somewhere. Järventie was acquired by the team alongside a 2025 fourth-round pick, later used to select David Lewandowski, for Xavier Bourgault and Jake Chiasson. Järventie scored 23 goals and 47 points in 61 games last year with the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors. AFP Analytics projected his next deal to be a one-year, $850,000 contract.
Owen Michaels, forward
Michaels, 24, signed a deal with the Oilers after wrapping up his NCAA career this spring with Western Michigan University, where he scored 13 goals and 26 points in 39 games this year.
Spencer Stastney, defenceman
Stastney was acquired by the Oilers on Dec. 12, 2025, from the Nashville Predators in exchange for a 2027 third-round pick, the same day the team traded Stuart Skinner and Brett Kulak for Tristan Jarry. Stastney, 26, showed he could succeed in a sheltered role, scoring one goal in 36 regular-season games for the team this year.
Players not tendered quality offers
Josh Bloom, forward
Bloom was acquired by the Oilers in March from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for AHL’er Jayden Grubbe. He appeared in three AHL games for the Condors after the deal, scoring a goal and two points, adding three goals and nine points in 11 games with Edmonton’s ECHL affiliate, the Fort Wayne Komets.
Matvey Petrov, forward
Petrov, 23, was drafted by the Oilers in the sixth round of the 2021 draft and appeared to be a strong sleeper selection. He returned to the OHL’s North Bay Battalion in his draft-plus-one year, scoring 27 goals and 93 points in 65 games, but has struggled since turning pro. In 141 games in the last three years with the Condors, he scored just 23 goals and 42 points.
Qualifying offers are due across the league by 5 p.m. on Monday. Players who weren’t issued qualifying offers become unrestricted free agents on July 1.
