Oilers Letters to the Editor: What would you do with a magic lamp?

It’s time to dig into this week’s Letters to the Editor. Want to join in the fun? Details about how to reach out are at the bottom of the article.

What three Edmonton Oilers decisions would you change since the Connor McDavid draft?

I had this fun idea I’d like to explore.
You find a magic Oilers lamp with a genie. It grants you the ability to change three decisions the Oilers have made since winning the McDavid lottery. It could be a trade, a signing, or a coach or GM hiring (can’t combine for both).
What would be your three wishes?
My example would be:
1) Stop the Koskinen extension as Chiarelli was heading out the door. It prevented the Oilers from being able to sign Nurse long-term at a lower cap hit (his agent was quoted referencing this during negotiations) and they had to bridge him right into a career year.
2) Reverse the Griffin Reinhart trade to grab strong prospects to grow with McDavid.
3) Stop Double J from signing all of Skinner/Henrique/Arvidsson/Janmark, so we had cap space for at least Broberg, maybe Holloway too.
Craig Musselman
(I love this idea. The Griffin Reinhart trade is No. 1 for me. The Duncan Keith trade is No. 2, as it led directly to Darnell Nurse’s extension. No. 3 would be firing Jay Woodcroft. He fell on the sword for some brutal goaltending, and while Kris Knoblauch did help get them to two Stanley Cups, look where the Oilers are today.)
