Oilers loan Quinn Hutson to AHL Condors

The Edmonton Oilers have loaned forward Quinn Hutson to the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors, the club announced Monday.
Hutson, 24, was recalled late last week alongside Isaac Howard, which marked his second recall in the last two weeks. The reassignment of Hutson coincides with Kasperi Kapanen being ready to return to the lineup after working his way back from a knee injury.
He appeared in three games in his first recall, scoring his first NHL goal against the Boston Bruins, but his most recent recall saw him play just one game, on Saturday, against the Philadelphia Flyers.
He’ll return to the Condors, who visit the Abbotsford Canucks on Tuesday and Wednesday, where he’s had nothing short of a tremendous first season in the pro ranks. In 26 games, he’s scored 19 goals and 32 points for the Condors, sitting third in the entire league in goals, and seventh in points. His goal and point totals lead all AHL rookies.
Producing points is nothing new to Hutson. Prior to signing with the Oilers and making his NHL debut last spring, Hutson spent three years at the NCAA’s Boston University, racking up 56 goals and 114 points in 117 games. His final season saw him set career highs in goals, assists and points, with 23 goals, 27 assists and 50 points in 38 games.
Hutson has NHL blood lines, with three younger brothers who play hockey: Lane Hutson, a defenceman for the Montreal Canadiens, Cole Hutson, a top defensive prospect for the Washington Capitals, and Lars Hutson, another defenceman, who plays for the USHL’s Muskegon Lumberjacks.
The Oilers schedule continues Tuesday when they welcome the Nashville Predators to town. They visit the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday before hosting the Los Angeles Kings Saturday night.
