Sceviour, 32, has appeared in 30 games with the Oilers this season scoring two goals and five points. Quietly, heâs been a very effective player in the bottom-six. According to hockeyviz.com, while he provides even-strength offence at a one percent rate below average, his defensive contributions at even-strength are two percent above average.
This all the while posting the best-expected goals against per hour rate of any Oilers forward â one thatâs far and away better than someone like Devin Shoreâs, for example.
Lagesson, meanwhile, rejoins the taxi squad having appeared in 11 games this year for the team scoring two points. In limited showings this year, heâs been an effective rearguard for the club. Heâs posted the best shot attempts supression rate per hour and the best expected goals against rate per hour of any Oilers defencemen. Sure, thereâs a very limited sample size there, but the numbers are promising.
On top of that, Lagessonâs PDO has been horrendous. A 94.0 is roughly six percent lower than league average and thatâs largely due to his on-ice save percentage of .868. Heâs gotten no support from his goaltender this year.
