Edmonton Oilers prospect Dylan Holloway has suffered a broken thumb that may delay his signing with the organization.
Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman first reported the news Saturday night during a Headlines segment, while Mark Spector followed up with the following.
Holloway suffered he injury on March 15 against Penn State, according to Spector, in a game he fired two shots on net and went 4-1 in the faceoff circle. In the third period, he was assessed a five minute major for contact to the head and a 10 minute game misconduct.
He played the following day against Minnesota-Duluth taking one shot on net, but didn’t take any faceoff draws. And against Bemidji State, he posted one assist taking three shots on net. He took two faceoffs, winning one of them.
OilersNation’s Jason Gregor reported earlier this week that the native of Bragg Creek would likely be inking an entry-level deal with the Oilers, but that appears to have the potential to be delayed due to his injury. The 14th overall pick from last years draft lit up the NCAA this year scoring 11 goals and 34 points in only 21 games.
His 1.52 points per game ranked third in the nation behind Quinnipiac’s Odeen Tufto and Wisconsin teammate Cole Caufield, who inked an entry level deal with the Montreal Canadiens last night.
