Edmonton Oilers prospect Raphael Lavoie has found a home to play for this upcoming season.
The 19-year-old was cut in recent days by the SHL’s Rogle BK, who didn’t have room for him on their roster. Lavoie had played in four preseason games there scoring one assist.
Now, Lavoie will be heading to Sweden’s second league, HockeyAllsvenskan, to play for Vasby IK for the 2020-21 season.
His deal likely has an out-clause that would allow him to return to North America to play out the season in the American Hockey League when it kicks back up.
Lavoie just finished his final season in the QMJHL splitting time between the Halifax Mooseheads and Chicoutimi Saguenéens. The 2019 2nd round pick of the Oilers scored 106 goals and 227 points in 217 career QMJHL games.
