Only a few hours after the team assigned F Tyler Benson to the Bakersfield Condors, the Edmonton Oilers have announced the recall of C @Colby Cave from the minor league club.
Cave, 25, has appeared in 40 games for the Condors this season scoring 10 goals and another 10 assists. Originally claimed by the Oilers on waivers last season, Cave has appeared in 38 games with the Oilers scoring three goals and one assist.
While some earlier in the day suggested Benson’s reassignment had to do with @James Neal returning from an injury, Cave’s recall suggests he may not be ready for Tuesday night’s game against the @Chicago Blackhawks.
In his time with the Oilers, Cave has posted strong underlying numbers for the club. Among forwards with >300 TOI at even-strength between last season and this, Cave ranks 3rd in CF% (51.02) and second in xGF% (55.84). His actual GF%, however, ranked 16th of 21 skaters with a meagre 36.94%,
Cave will at the very least offer the Oilers a left-shot C in the bottom-six.
