The Edmonton Oilers have recalled Patrick Russell from the taxi squad on an emergency basis, the club announced Tuesday afternoon.
The recall came hours before the club was set to drop the puck at 8 p.m. MST against the Vancouver Canucks. Given the recall is on an emergency basis, it’s safe to assume that someone from the Oilers forward group is unavailable for tonight’s game.
Russell has appeared in only one game this season where he scored an assist in a 6-4 road loss to the Winnipeg Jets.
