The Edmonton Oilers got a little bit of housekeeping done on Tuesday afternoon as the team announced via their social media channels that they have signed Olivier Rodrigue to a one-year, two-way contract with an AAV of $775K.

The Edmonton Oilers solidified their goaltending corps this afternoon by signing Olivier Rodrigue to a one-year contract extension that will keep him with the franchise that drafted him 62nd overall at the 2018 NHL Draft. Hailing from Chicoutimi, Quebec, Rodrigue just wrapped up his third pro season —his first full year with the Bakersfield Condors — as he works to inch his way closer to the ultimate goal of backstopping at the NHL level.

As Rodrigue embarks on the next chapter of his hockey journey, Oilers fans everywhere will be watching his growth down on the farm in the hopes that he’ll continue to progress toward being a National Hockey League goaltender. This one-year contract signifies the team’s dedication to fostering talent and reinforcing their depth as they continue the search for the next homegrown goaltender. Over the 2023-24 campaign, however, Oilers fans will be looking for Rodrigue to lock down his spot with the Condors and build upon what was his best AHL effort so far.

In 29 games played for the Bakersfield Condors last season, Rodrigue posted a 2.77 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage. Before settling in with the Condors, Rodrigue also played 15 ECHL games with the Wichita Thunder, notching a 3.57 goals against average and .907 save percentage.
