Game 82! It’s over. This isn’t the season anyone wanted, but it’s done. Now we can return to hoping they finally get things right, make the necessary changes in management, and surround Connor McDavid with the talent he god damn deserves. McDavid’s injury is pretty much the exact thing you don’t want to happen in a game like this.
Leon Draisaitl gets his 50th goal of the season early in the first period. That’s great but McDavid’s injury puts a damper on things.

THE BRIGHT SIDE

  • Leon Draisaitl gets his 50th goal of the season! #L50N.
  • Mike Smith is truly awful. I don’t think the Flames go far in the playoffs relying on him.
  • Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had two assists and hits 69 points for the first time in his career. Nice.
  • Darnell Nurse scores his 10th goal of the season past Mike Smith.
  • Smith is not good and the Flames have a very good team and a bad goalie in Mike Smith.
  • Mikko Koskinen had a good game.
  • The Oilers finished 26th which means they’ll go into the NHL Draft Lottery with the 7th-overall pick. That’s solid. They passed the New York Rangers tonight, so 6th-overall was obtainable, but that’s not a huge deal.
  • Johnny Gaudreau did not get 100 points.
  • These Flames uniforms are great. Calgary should definitely switch to these full time next season.
  • McDavid does not have a broken leg. I’m not a doctor, but this has to be good, right?
  • This season was 100% not what anyone wanted, but Oilers fans are fantastic and following this team is more dramatic than an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

THE FACE PALMERS

  • McDavid drives the net and collides with the post hard. He couldn’t get up and didn’t return for the rest of the game. Yikes. At least it’s the last game of the season but you never want to see a generational talent, or anyone else for that matter, get an injury.
  • Seriously, I can’t think of anything worse than McDavid getting a major injury in a completely meaningless game.
  • I will give my leg to McDavid.
  • Tobias Rieder ends the season with zero goals. Kind of an accomplishment?
  • Seriously, Connor, I could probably do without my left leg. Sure, I’m a few inches shorter than you but maybe Daryl can pull some Rexall magic off?
