According to Brian Swane, Jack Campbell tied the Oilers record since 1999-00 for most wins in a season while allowing 4+ goals.

His fifth win of the season came last night during the Oilers’ 5-4 thriller over the Arizona Coyotes. It was once again one of those games where the Oilers struggled defensively in front of Campbell and he let in a few he shouldn’t have.

We’ve written a lot this season about Campbell’s tough year. He’s massively underperformed this season posting some of the worst numbers among all qualified goaltenders: a .882 save percentage and a 3.59 GAA. Against all odds, the Oilers are still managing to win games in front of him .

With Campbell in net this season, the Oilers have scored 4.19 goals for per hour in all situations, while with Skinner in net, the Oilers have scored 3.56 goals for per hour in all situations. The jump of .63 goals for per hour is huge.

The Oilers have done a great job of outscoring their issues this season and the good news is that the team has played much better in front of Stuart Skinner all season long. It’s clear he’s the guy now and in the future and that’s good news for a franchise that’s been longing for a true number one.
