Just as he seemed to be hitting his stride with the Oilers, Jujhar Khaira has been shoved to the sideline. Khaira won’t be in tonight’s lineup against the St. Louis Blues as the forward is reportedly dealing with an upper body injury.
Khaira took a hard check to the ribs in Tuesday’s stomping of the Golden Knights so one would assume that’s the cause of the injury he’s dealing with. It doesn’t seem to be serious or long-term, but it’s unfortunate seeing the gritty forward have to sit out just as he started playing his best hockey. He scored a goal against Washington on the weekend and picked up two assists against Vegas on Tuesday after spending a couple of weeks in the press box.
Coming into the lineup in his place will be Mike Cammalleri, who makes his Oilers debut on the third line with Ryan Strome and Iiro Pakarainen.
