The 2026 trade deadline is under six weeks away.
On Friday, Daily Faceoff’s Matt Larkin released an updated version of the trade board with some interesting names on it. Of course, the Stanley Cup-contending Edmonton Oilers will be active, as they’re apparently on the hunt for a top-nine forward.
Whether that’s a winger or centre is yet to be known, but the Oilers will need to look outside to help improve their scoring. Let’s take a look at five players on Daily Faceoff’s latest trade board that are a fit for the Oilers ahead of the March 6th trade deadline.
Ryan Hartman
Agitator Ryan Hartman is capable of playing both centre and wing. Although the Wild are firmly in a postseason spot, moving off Hartman’s cap hit of $4 million can help them net a proper second-line centre. Hartman is under contract until the end of the 2026-27 season and has a 15-team no-trade list.
Hartman is in the “obvious trade candidates” category, according to Daily Faceoff. This season, the right-shot forward has 14 goals and 24 points in 48 points, passing his goal total of 14 last season, and just two shy of matching his point total, in 21-fewer games. His best season was in 2021-22, when Hartman scored 34 goals and 65 points in 82 games.
Unlike the other four players in the article, Hartman isn’t much of a faceoff taker, winning just 42.7 percent of the draws in 2025-26, and sitting at 44.9 percent in the faceoff dot for his career. Even if Hartman is on the wing on the third line, he has a nice blend of scoring, physical play, and getting under the opponent’s skin.
Boone Jenner
Boone Jenner is the perfect third-line centre for the Oilers. Before injuries last season, the left-shot forward from Dorchester, Ontario, registered back-to-back-to-back 20-goal seasons from 2021-22 until 2023-24. While his career-high of 30 goals and 49 points was set in his third season back in 2015-16, Jenner has consistently posted upwards of 35 points a season throughout his career.
So far this season, the 32-year-old has eight goals and 25 points in 36 games, which is on pace for 18 goals and 56 points over a full 82-game season. Like Trocheck and Hartman (and the other two players), Jenner is a player who’s capable of playing both centre and wing. This season, Jenner has won 53.3 percent of his draws, and has won 54 percent of the draws he’s taken in his career.
Jenner is considered an “obvious trade candidate” by Daily Faceoff, largely depending on where the Columbus Blue Jackets stand ahead of March 6th’s trade deadline. He’s a rental, as his contract is up after this season, and he earns just $3.75 million. With significant retention, that contract would be easy for the Oilers to absorb, but Jenner has an eight-team no-trade list.

Ryan O’Reilly
Ryan O’Reilly is a player who’s been there and done that, and the lone player included in this article to have won a Stanley Cup. Immediately breaking into the National Hockey League despite being a second-round pick, O’Reilly has gone on to have a productive career, scoring 321 goals and 874 points in 1,202 games, all while providing strong two-way play.
He’s never reached the 30-goal mark, but is good enough to post a 50+ point season in 13 of his last 15 seasons. Both times he failed to reach 50 points, he played 29 and 53 games respectively. Even through 50 games with the Nashville Predators in 2025-26, O’Reilly has already his the 50-point mark, scoring 18 goals and 50 points. All of this while being a strong two-way centre who has won 55.6 percent of the faceoffs he’s taken in his career.
Surprisingly, O’Reilly has only played 81 career playoff games, with a large bulk of those games coming during the 2019 postseason. With the St. Louis Blues, O’Reilly scored eight goals and 23 points in 26 games, en route to winning that year’s Conn Smythe Trophy.
O’Reilly is in the penultimate season of his four-year contract and has a cap hit of $4.5 million with no trade protection. The Predators are in the hunt for a postseason berth, as they are three points out of the final wild card spot with three teams to jump.
Vincent Trocheck
Vincent Trocheck is an interesting player. Considered in the tier of “names to keep an eye on”, Trocheck is under contract until the end of the 2028-29 season with a cap hit of just $5.625 million. Trocheck has a 12-team no-trade list.
Despite being on a team that won’t be playoff bound, Trocheck has had a solid season, scoring 11 goals and 32 points in 38 games, but is a -17. If he were to play a full 82-game season, Trocheck is on pace for 23 goals and 69 points, which would be around his career norms. He’s also a productive playoff performer, scoring 17 goals and 37 points in 56 playoff games, including eight goals and 20 points in 16 games during the 2024 postseason.
Earlier this season, Trocheck missed 14 games due to an upper-body injury in the second game of the season. That said, there’s a lot to like about the right-shot centre as he’s capable of playing both centre and winger. This season, he’s won 56.8 percent of his faceoffs, and has won 54.2 percent of the faceoffs he’s taken in his career. He’s also a bit of an agitator, something the Oilers could use.
There’s no urgency to trade Trocheck given the term remaining on his contract. However, if the Rangers enter a true rebuild, trading Trocheck ahead of the deadline could net the Original Six team a sizable haul. It would cost the Oilers quite a lot given his age, contract, and production, but Trocheck would fit well on the team.

Jean-Gabriel Pageau
Lastly, Jean-Gabriel Pageau is an interesting right-shot centre who is capable of killing penalties. A right-shot centre for the New York Islanders, Pageau has scored eight goals and 19 points in 42 games this season, on pace for 15 goals and 37 points, right around what he’s been averaging since 2015-16.
Pageau is a strong faceoff taker, winning 58.7 percent of the draws he’s taken in 2025-26, and sitting at 54.7 percent for his career. So far this season, Pageau has also played 115 minutes of ice time on the penalty kill.
Pageau is in the final season of his six-year contract and has a cap hit of $5 million. The Islanders may be a little reluctant to trade him, giving that they currently sit third in the Metropolitan Division. Because of that, Daily Faceoff considered Pageau as a “name to keep an eye on”. If they are to trade him, the Oilers would wise to consider the 33-year-old.
