The Edmonton Oilers lifted their second Stanley Cup in franchise history today in 1985.

Edmonton had cruised to a 49-20-11 record in the regular season scoring a league-high 401 goals. ‘

Wayne Gretzky blew up for one of the best seasons of his career scoring 73 goals and 208 points in 80 games as Jari Kurri scored 135 points and Paul Coffey 121 to boot.

In the playoffs, the Oilers were a near unstoppable force. They swept the LA Kings in the first round in three games, before dispatching the Winnipeg Jets in another second round, four-game sweep.

In the third round, they made a statement with an 11-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks, a series they would win in six games.

And against the Flyers in the finals, Edmonton fell in game one but roared back with four undefeated wins to win the Stanley Cup.
