Just a weird season for games played so far to start the year through the AHL and ECHL with both clubs seemingly mirroring the big club in an early lack of games played. That resulted in some goalie shuffling to make sure the logjam sees some time in both leagues. Not too many big offensive weeks for the guys as a result but some standout goaltending from Hayden Hawkey and Shane Starrett. An update on a big injury for the Oilers pipeline and few other headlines to check into.
Bouchard first NHL goal – While not technically a prospect yet, the 48-year old (not actually) rookie is coming upon his 9-game window for decisions in Edmonton and making it hard on the brass to decide should he stay or should he go.
Starrett and Skinner swapped – as mentioned, the games played are low in both the AHL and ECHL so far this year and as a result there was a goalie swap to try and get them some playing time.
Rattie out for weeks – The Rattie injury will likely mean that a combination of Marody and a couple of other guys see time in the NHL. Marody hasn’t looked out of place in his time so far.
Safin Watch – After four weeks of this Update into the season we finally have some word coming from Halifax regarding the status of their newly aquiried Ostap Safin:
Gravel on a yo-yo – Gravel was up and then down this week with an injury to Benning. He looked good playing with the youngster Bouchard.
