The Edmonton Oilers have traded Taylor Beck for Justin Fontaine.
Fontaine signed a one-year deal with the New York Rangers this past off-season and carries a $600 000 cap hit. He has spent the season with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL
Fontaine has played in 197 NHL games and scored 68 points – all with the Minnesota Wild.
A Bonnyville Native, Fontaine played with Mark Letestu with the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Bonnyville Pontiacs before a four-year stint at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
The Oilers signed Taylor Beck as free-agent this past off season to a one-year, $650 000 deal. He has scored 50 points in 40 AHL games this year, and is third in the league’s scoring race.
As Rishaug noted above, Beck was unable to gain traction with the club, playing in only three NHL games this year and scoring no points.
Taylor Beck has played in 90 NHL games, scoring only 23 points.
