The Bets of the Day are brought to you by NHL odds site Betway!
Welcome back to another edition of the Betway Bets of the day. All bets are for one unit unless otherwise noted.
Our first bet of the day will be taking Connor McDavid to score and the Oilers money line. These odds sit at +110.
Third time is the charm, yeah?
I’ve laid action on this bet twice already this year and come up short of a McDavid goal in each of them. The Oilers are heavy favourites in this game against the Detroit Red Wings sitting at -225 on the moneyline, and this should be another solid two points for them here tonight.
McDavid’s got goals in 34 of 54 games on the season, but has just two in his last five games. Let’s see if he gets back in the goal column tonight.

Our second bet of the day will be taking Tage Thompson to score 2+ points. These odds sit at +140.
The Sabres’ top line of Thompson, Jeff Skinner and Alex Tuch have been electric this season, and tonight I’m expecting more fireworks. They take on the lowly Anaheim Ducks who in their last five games have given up 3.47 goals against per hour, the sixth-worst rate in the league. Over that stretch, they’ve also given up 4.11 expected goals against per hour, the worst rate in the league, so this should be a night where Thompson and the Sabres roll.
Our third bet of the day will be taking the Chicago Blackhawks on the moneyline. These odds sit at +375.
Okay look, I’ll admit it: this one is just for fun, but you know what? Sometimes betting is all about having fun. The Leafs are one of the heaviest favourites I can ever remember seeing. They’re -550 on the moneyline, -200 on the -1.5 puckline, and a staggering -300 to win in regulation. In fact, it’s been reported the Toronto Maple Leafs are the largest favourites in NHL history tonight.
How funny would it be to see Chicago win this game?
Toronto’s lost to some bad teams this year. They’ve dropped two games to the Arizona Coyotes 4-2 and 6-3. They lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-3 just the other day. Montreal has beat them twice, too, so it’s not out of the question for Chicago to walk out with a win.
I was initially going to lay just a half unit on this, but given how strong of a season I’ve had betting, I’m laying a full unit on this bet.
