The Edmonton Oilers return to the ice tonight for a West Coast matchup versus the San Jose Sharks. These two teams have met once before but it didn’t go well for the Oilers. Despite being one of the worst teams in the league at the time, the Sharks beat an Edmonton team that was struggling to find an identity. A couple of months later, that same Oilers seems to have found that winning ingrediatent that was missing earlier in the year.
Before the Christmas break, two third period come backs helped Edmonton climb back to .500 on the season. The first came against the New Jersey Devils which finished 6-3 in favour of Edmonton, after being down 3-1 after two. It was a much similar result the next night in New York against the Rangers. Edmonton was down 3-1 heading into the final frame but goals from Evander Kane, Warren Foegele and Ryan McLeod helped the Oilers overcome the deficit.
