It&#8217;s another milestone night for the Edmonton Oilers <a href="https://oilersnation.com/2023/03/30/gdb-76-0-wrap-up-oilers-rock-solid-in-2-0-win-over-the-kings-move-up-to-2nd-in-the-pacific-division/">last night</a>.

Stuart Skinner, meanwhile, set a franchise record for wins in a single month with 10. He breaks the previous record of nine held by Mike Smith (April 2022), Tommy Salo (March 2003), Grant Fuhr (December 1988) and Andy Moog (January 1983).
Skinner recorded his 10th victory of the month with a shutout against the LA Kings. It was the first shutout for the Oilers this season with a 43-save performance and arguably the biggest game of the season for Edmonton. Fortunately he won&#8217;t be getting sent down like last time when he got an NHL shutout.
Jay Woodcroft joked post game that won&#8217;t be happening. Woodcroft also added: &#8220;I think he&#8217;s mature beyond his years, came up with the big saves at the right time.&#8221;

The Edmonton Oilers also close out March with a league best 12-2-1 record and .833 points percentage. It&#8217;s important to note that many of these wins for Skinner came against top teams around the league starting off with a 5-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on March 1st. There was also the win against the Boston Bruins on March 9th where he put up a .928 save percentage inside TD Garden. Skinner and the Oilers would continue to achieve massive results over top teams like Dallas, LA and Vegas.
It was an unbelievable game from Skinner, making eight high danger saves. This is the type of performance you want see from your goaltender before the post-season. With the type of month Skinners, one must wonder if this will bring him into the rookie of the year conversation. The idea has been brought up a few times on Oilersnation Radio and Oilersnation Everyday. No Oiler has ever won the Calder Memorial Trophy and Stuart Skinner is building himself a strong case. However, Seattle Kraken rookie, Matty Beniers is sound like the favourite.
Regardless, Skinner has his eyes on one prize. The Stanley Cup, won by the same goaltenders who&#8217;s records he broke tonight.
