Oilersnation, LETS. RIDE.
Three straight wins for the Oilers this week, including last night’s series-clinching win.
On Sunday, the gang was at GRETA for our road watch party, and we were fired up. Coming off of a loss in LA, it was a crucial game to walk away with a win. Stuart Skinner started in net for the Oilers, but it was quite short-lived, given the three goals on 11 shots he let past him in the first period. Starting the second period with Campbell in net and down 3-0, the Oilers had some work to do if they wanted to win the game.
At this point, GRETA was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Tensions were high, and vibes were low. Bouchard scored early in the second, cutting LA’s lead to two, followed by two goals from Leon Draisaitl to tie the game up. The third kicked off with LA scoring to regain the lead and ended nicely with an Evander Kane goal to send us to overtime, where well, we all know what happens in overtime.
Shout out to Zach Hyman, game 4 overtime hero.

Coming off an electric win in LA, the Oilers were back home, and spoiler alert, they blew the Kings up.
Skinner was back between the pipes for game 5, and though there would be a goalie chased, it would not be ours. Evander kane opened up the scoring for us, followed by Draisaitl and Brett Kulak to take us out of the first period with a 3-2 lead. the third period was all Oilers, where Nick Bjugstad and Zach Hyman would get on the board to solidify the Oilers lead at 5-2 with 20 to play.
Bjugstad tacked one more goal onto the score sheet, and Byfield got the Kings back within three goals, but too little too late, Oilers win 6-3.
Back to Greta.
I mean LA…back to LA…
Now, if you’re reading this, I’m sure you know what happened last night by now.
The game was back and forth all night, and then it was 4-4 with 3:10 left in the game, I will tell you, it was all nerves for us over at Greta. However, it was a big night for the little guy, as Kailer Yamamoto was out to prove the haters wrong and score our series-clinching goal with 3:03 left in the game.
Last night was crazy for all Oilers fans, but I asked everyone at the office if they could describe last night in one word, what would it be? Here are everyone’s responses.

While I don’t know how Zach was relaxed at all after a win like that, I probably have to go with Tyler and Kennedy, because the night, the game, and the vibes were all truly chaotic and electric.
Initially, at the start of playoffs, I had fully decided that the only team I was scared of was the Kings.
I stand by this statement because as we saw it was a close, feisty series. At some points, I was really reminded of the Jets series from the bubble season, and that’s when I was scared. I showed up to game 4 saying “I feel like I’m going to a funeral”. but now that the Oilers have stopped needing to outplay themselves and their mistakes, I truly feel that there is no stopping us.
I also feel like- and I could be totally alone in this thought- even with the high expectations for the team and us having the highest odds of winning the cup this year, we still have our underdog vibes, and the team isn’t letting the hype around them get to their heads too much.
Another random realization. Another game one loss, another series win.
My only Sunday scaries for this week are as follows:
  1. What the schedule is going to look like. I cannot keep up with the 8 pm start times.
  2. The Oilers are playing their game and making sure we aren’t in a position where were battling ourselves more than the other team.
