The Winnipeg Jets have claimed Anton Forsberg

Anton Forsberg’s game of musical chairs continues.
After claiming the goaltender off of waivers from the Edmonton Oilers earlier this week, the Carolina Hurricanes waived Forsberg with the intention of sending him to their Taxi Squad. This time, the Winnipeg Jets jumped in and snagged him.
It isn’t much of a surprise that Winnipeg went ahead and grabbed Forsberg. The team lost Eric Comrie on waivers to the New Jersey Devils earlier this week and they didn’t have a suitable third-string behind Connor Hellebyuck and Laurent Brossoit.
On the other hand, this is obviously frustrating for the Oilers, who are in a tricky situation in terms of goalies. Stuart Skinner, a prospect with no NHL experience, served as Edmonton’s backup last night against the Vancouver Canucks as Mike Smith is currently dealing with an undisclosed injury or illness.
Winnipeg now has three goalies on their active roster, so we could see Forsberg hit waivers yet again in the coming days. This is turning into quite a saga.
