Over in Sweden, Raphaël Lavoie continued his hot start to the 2020-21 season, scoring his fifth goal of the year for Väsby IK.
10 minutes into the first period, Lavoie took a cross-zone pass from Rasmus Sörgardt and ripped a shot from the face-off circle through goaltender Adam Åhman. Like the two goals that Lavoie scored on Wednesday, this highlight illustrates the hard, accurate shooting ability he has.
Lavoie now leads the team in both goals with five and points with seven.
That was pretty much the only good part of the day for Väsby. Lavoie’s goal put them up 1-0 and then Tingsryds AIF scored the next seven goals on their way to a commanding 8-2 victory.
Elsewhere, both Evan Bouchard and William Lagesson’s Allsvenskan were in action on Friday. Lagesson’s team, Vita Hasten, got dropped 4-1 by MODO, while Bouchard’s team, Sodertalje, lost 6-2 to Timra, with Bouchard picking up one assist.
For anybody interested in Oilers playing over in Sweden, 2019 first-round pick Philip Broberg’s club, Skellefteå, is in action against Rogle tomorrow. The game will start around 7:00 AM Edmonton time and streams can be found here.
