We’ve passed the halfway point of the week, which means a fresh episode of your mom’s favourite is set and ready to massage your earholes. On this week’s Better Lait Than Never, we’re looking at Zach Hyman’s 50th goal, Connor Brown’s heater, Connor McDavid chasing 100 assists, and whatever else has been going on over the last seven days.
Kicking off this week’s BLTN, I started the podcast with a dose of random topics from the past week. From picking up my new whip on Friday to diving into Big Brother Canada to talking about our love for pets, it was undoubtedly a busy week outside of work for yours truly. A lot of life happened in not a lot of time.
Turning the show back to the Oilers, how could I not start with Zach Hyman hitting 50 goals for the first time, and how the reaction to that goal was all over the map depending on which fanbase you reside in? Even though we all knew the milestone was coming, watching him actually hit it was a moment a lot of Oilers fans will remember for a very long time.
I also looked at the Evander Kane situation that has been bubbling up around here lately. The forward was scratched for maintenance for Sunday’s game against the Ottawa Senators, but according to Elliotte Friedman, it seems like the move was actually a healthy scratch. Regardless of what the truth looks like, what we know to be true is that the Oilers will need Kane to be at his best down the stretch if the team is going to make noise in the playoffs.
