Starting the podcast, how could I not talk about what happened in the US last night with the presidential election? Not that I wanted to dive into politics at all, but the reaction to the results was quite a wild dive into the human experience. Moving along quickly, I then recapped Monday’s Oilers game on Amazon Prime, which was the first of four nights we’ll have on the streaming platform. From the product to the experience to the presentation, I offered my take on what it was like to watch hockey differently.

Keeping with the Oilers, I kicked off the news with the stunning revelation that Connor McDavid will be back in the Oilers lineup only nine days after suffering an ankle injury on his first shift against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Given that he was supposed to be out of the lineup for 2-3 weeks, seeing him on the top line at Wednesday’s morning skate was certainly a surprise. Then again, should we be surprised? If there’s one thing Connor McDavid has done repeatedly in his career, it’s defying the odds when it comes to his recovery time, and this ankle injury was just the latest example.

Finally, I wrapped up this quick episode of BLTN with a Righteous Sack Beating about off-leash dogs before wrapping up the show with another round of voicemails. The inbox was quiet but mighty this week, but that didn’t mean you fine folks didn’t still make me laugh anyway.
