Connor McDavid finished third in Hart Memorial Trophy voting. Nikita Kucherov has been voted the league’s most valuable player by the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association. McDavid finished third in Hart Trophy voting behind Tampa Bay right wing Nikita Kucherov and Pittsburgh center Sidney Crosby.
For the first time in three seasons McDavid has not won the Ted Lindsay award. McDavid has not been voted the league’s most outstanding player by his peers. McDavid was a nominee for the Lindsay along with Tampa Bay right wing Nikita Kucherov and Chicago right wing Patrick Kane.
The Oilers missed the playoffs for the second straight season, but McDavid upped it to another level this season. McDavid scored a career high 75 assists and 116 points this season. That total was better than last season and when he won the Hart Memorial Trophy in 2016-17, but both the Hart and Lindsay went to Kucherov.
2019 Hart Trophy winner is #tblightning Nikita Kucherov, as voted by @ThePHWA. Clean sweep of both Lindsay and Hart. Second winner in franchise history, his 128 points were the most in an #NHL season since 1995-96.
McDavid was the lone Oiler nominated for an award tonight. McDavid also finished fifth in Lady Byng Trophy voting.
