@Connor McDavid released a message to hockey fans from his place on Tuesday afternoon, preaching the importance of social distancing and how we all need to watch out for each other during this trying time.
This afternoon, the @Edmonton Oilers captain took a moment to ask that everyone watching his feed to practice social distancing as a means of doing our part to slow down the spread of COVID-19. Like many of us, McDavid is keeping himself at home and his message was geared at asking people to do the same.
“Like a lot of you, I’m just stuck inside and practicing my social distancing and trying to control this thing before it gets out of hand — I think it’s important. What one person does affects the other and we all need to make sure that we’re being safe and taking all of the steps needed to stop the spread of this thing. Practice your social distancing, take care of yourselves, and I’m looking forward to getting back on the ice soon.”
McDavid joins a list of NHLers such as @Jack Eichel, @Nico Hischier, @Rasmus Dahlin, and @Jonathan Bernier who are using their platforms to encourage folks to stay inside as much as possible during this time. Just this afternoon, TSN reported that the NHL would like to resume its season in August (if possible) which makes flattening the curve on the spread of COVID-19 especially important if they have any hope of hitting that date.
