For the first time this season, the Oilers are on a four-game winning streak.
After struggling for much of the year to string more than two wins together, Edmonton appears to be settling into a groove at the right time.
With victories over Utah, Vegas, Anaheim, and now Seattle, the Oilers are now just two points back of the Ducks for the top spot in the Pacific Division.
Max Jones opened the scoring five minutes into the first period, and Kasperi Kapanen extended the lead to 2-0 later in the frame. Edmonton shut things down from there, with Connor McDavid adding an empty-net goal in the final few minutes of the third.
Connor Ingram, who turned 29 on Tuesday, was the star for the Oilers, stopping all 27 shots he faced for his second shutout of the season.
While the win was Edmonton’s fourth in a row, it was Seattle’s seventh straight game without a regulation win. Despite picking up just four points in that stretch, the Kraken remain in the playoff mix, sitting two points back of the second wild-card spot with two games in hand.

What they said…

Edmonton head coach Kris Knoblauch on the Oilers succeeding with a simple game…
“Our game isn’t sexy right now, it’s not fancy. It’s just a lot of little things, and that’s usually the difference between winning and losing.
“We have six defencemen and 12 forwards each night who are doing it.”
Oilers goaltender Connor Ingram on picking up his second shutout of the season…
“The more you play, the easier it’s gonna get. I thought everybody in front of me did a great job today. I didn’t really have to do much back there. Maybe that bad bounce on the PK that kicks out to the slot, but other than that, I thought everybody in front of me made my job really easy.”
Edmonton winger Max Jones on how the Oilers are hitting their stride late in the season…
“Everybody expects at this point in the season to know where you’re at and know what you need to be doing on the ice, so I feel like you can see it out there. Guys are playing the way that they know that they should be, and we’re playing great. It’s fun to be a part of outside of the ice and just being in the locker room.”
“I feel like ever since we had the conversation about just everyone stepping up a bit, it seems like everyone’s kind of just doing a little bit extra out there. The start of the game was pretty evident. You saw how fast it was and how fast we were playing, and just playing simple. That carried throughout the whole game.”
Seattle head coach Lane Lambert on what went wrong for the Kraken in their loss to the Oilers…
“I thought there were some good things. We know that they are a bit of a handful in the offensive zone. I thought we, for the most part, kept their opportunities to a minimum. I think we had some, not a lot, but we had some good enough chances to score. It was a low-scoring game and we didn’t convert on our opportunities.
“It clearly wasn’t the start we wanted.”
Kraken forward Jared McCann on the team struggling to score goals during their recent funk…
“I thought we had some good looks. It’s easy to be negative when the puck’s not going in but we’re going to keep pushing and keep moving forward.
“It’s easy to say we’re just not scoring and that’s why we’re losing. I feel like we’re doing a lot of other good things that are creating good offence, like playing well defensively, but we’re just not finding the back of the net right now.”

Up next…

The Oilers continue their four-game homestand on Thursday against Chicago, followed by a visit from Vegas on Saturday.
Next week, Edmonton heads out for its final road trip of the season, with stops in Utah, San Jose, and Los Angeles. After that, they’ll host Colorado and Vancouver to close out the regular season.
