The @Edmonton Oilers have made a contract offer to F @Anton Slepyshev, the team’s GM Ken Holland said in a media conference call Tuesday.
Drafted by the Oilers in the third round of the 2013 draft, he played in North America between 2015 and 2018 appearing in 102 NHL games scoring 23 points and another 59 AHL games.
Issued a qualifying offer in 2018, Slepyshev declined and left for the KHL where he’s scored 33 goals and 70 points in 110 games. This past season, in particular, was an excellent one for Slepyshev as he amassed 18 goals and 27 games in 54 games for CSKA Moscow, which works out to an NHLe of around 51 points over a full 82-game campaign.
The Edmonton Journal’s Jim Matheson reported Tuesday that the offer is believed to be somewhere between $1-million and $1.4-million, which fits in line with some of the discussions we’ve had around here regarding a possible return.
I’ve said it before, but I think around the $1-million mark would be perfect for Slepyshev on a one-year contract. He could theoretically come into Edmonton and fill a bottom-six scoring role for the club.
