Phillip Broberg will be wearing the ‘C’ for the Swedish World Junior team. The move was made official on Friday as the IIHF and its teams prepare for the tournament kicking off Christmas Day in Edmonton.
Broberg, 19, won bronze with Sweden last year and also appeared in the 2019 event in Vancouver and Vicotria.
“He is a great captain for our group,” Swedish head coach Joel Ronnmark told Swedish news outlet Expressen, translated to English. “He is doing his third JVM and is extremely experienced for his age. He is a leader on and off the ice.”
The eighth-overall pick from 2019 has spent the last two seasons playing for Skellefta AIK in the SHL and this year has scored eight points in 23 games.
