Despite playing close to 300 NHL games in his career, one of the newest Oilers is still a bit of an unknown to most Edmonton fans. Today we’re going to take a look at some facts that you probably didn’t know about Adam Larsson.
HE IS ONE OF THE FOUNDING MEMBERS OF ABBA

Just as the band was about to hit the big time, Larsson was unceremoniously kicked out at the suggestion of the bands manager, who stated “the name Adam And These Other Four Less Talented People was not very marketable, and seemed to cause strife within the group.”
HE HAS A TATTOO OF THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO GETTING A DRAGON TATTOO

Stieg Larsson (Larsson is the Swedish equivalent of Smith apparently) put Sweden on the international literary stage after his posthumously published Millennium series became a worldwide hit, spawning two different film adaptations. The novels were such a big deal in Sweden that experts believe 85% of the country has some kind of Millennium themed tattoo, and our new friend Adam is no exception.
CAUGHT A FISH SO LARGE IT FED HIS ENTIRE HOMETOWN

The Nordic diet is based primarily around fish, and Adam Larsson once caught a 2 ton haddock that provided husmanskost for the entire city of Skelleftea. Did I mention he caught it with HIS BARE HANDS? (Please ignore the fishing rod in that picture. It was there purely for show)
HE’S A LITERAL VIKING

These ain’t your run-of-the-mill Minnesota Vikings. No sir, our boy Adam is an honest-to-goodness “raid and trade” style of Viking! Meaning he both has great genes, and looks great IN jeans.
HIS FATHER IS A WORLD RENOWNED CHEF

“Bork, bork, bork.” – Mr. Larsson.
