<p>As the first goal was being announced, the Oilers extended their lead to 2-0. Edmonton won a faceoff in Carolina&#8217;s zone, Evan Bouchard sent the puck in for Connor McDavid, and he found Mattias Ekholm, who activated from the blueline and crashed the crease.</p>

<p>Zach Hyman put the Oilers up 3-0 just over five minutes into the first period. Evan Bouchard did some nice work to keep the puck in Carolina&#8217;s zone at the blueline before getting it in deep and then Hyman dragged it out front and buried it.</p>
