The Edmonton Oilers are back in the win column. Thanks to a four-goal third-period rally, the Oilers beat the New Jersey Devils by a score of 6-3 on Thursday, snapping a three-game skid. Below are the highlights from the game.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS ARE PRESENTED BY BETWAY
The Oilers opened the scoring immediately off of the opening faceoff. Mattias Janmark got the puck deep into New Jersey’s zone, Ryan McLeod was able to sneak behind the Devils defenders, and Sam Gagner fed him all alone in the slot for an easy goal.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins extended Edmonton’s lead to 2-0 a few minutes later. Mattias Ekholm put a puck towards New Jersey’s new from the blueline and RNH was there to bury a rebound.

The Devils got on the board before the end of the first period. They broke up ice on a three-on-two and Dawson Mercer sniped a shot blocker side on Calvin Pickard to make the score 2-1.

The Devils tied the score at 2-2 early in the second period. The puck came back to the point and Jonas Siegenthaler fired a shot on goal that made its way through a screened Calvin Pickard.

New Jersey took their first lead of the game later in the second period. Shortly after a period of pressure by the Oilers, the Devils came up ice and Timo Meier buried a loose puck in the crease.

The Oilers came out flying in the third period and erased New Jersey’s lead quickly. Connor McDavid grabbed a rebound and waited out goaltender Vitek Vanecek before firing the puck into the open net.

Under one minute later, Leon Draisaitl picked off a pass in front of New Jersey’s net a roofed a back-hand shot to put the Oilers back in front. The goal was Draisaitl’s 14th of the season.

Under thirty seconds later, Adam Erne scored his first goal as a member of the Oilers to extend the team’s lead to 5-3. Erne came up the ice on a two-on-one with James Hamblin and managed to crash the net and tuck the puck past Vanecek’s pad.

Ryan McLeod scored his second goal of the game later in the period to give the Oilers some added insurance. They closed the door the rest of the way and won by a score of 6-3.
