The Edmonton Oilers returned home following a disappointing road trip and got back in the win column with a commanding 8-4 win over the Detroit Red Wings. Connor McDavid led the way with six assists and Cody Ceci scored his first goal of the season in the win.
Below are the highlights from the game.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS ARE PRESENTED BY BETWAY

Leon Draisaitl opened the scoring for the Oilers about nine minutes into the first frame with his 25th goal of the season.
A few minutes later, defenceman Cody Ceci extended Edmonton’s lead to 2-0 with his first goal since October of 2022.
The Wings got on the board with under five minutes to go in the first period while Draisaitl was in the penalty box for interference.
In the second period, Evan Bouchard activated and buried a shot from the slot that restored Edmonton’s two-goal lead.
Just over one minute later, the Wings got another chance on the power play when Sam Gagner was called for tripping and Joe Veleno capitalized on the opportunity.
Veteran winger Patrick Kane tied the game at 3-3 later in the second period with his eighth goal of the season.
In the third period, it was all Edmonton. Dylan Holloway put the Oilers back in front by diving into the crease to poke a loose puck past goaltender Alex Lyon.
The Oilers extended their lead to 5-3 a few minutes later when Ryan Nugent-Hopkins sniped a shot past Lyon for his 13th goal of the season.
Zach Hyman buried his 32nd goal of the season in the latter part of the third frame to put the Oilers up 6-3 and erase the idea of a Detroit comeback.
Just after Hyman’s goal was announced, Connor McDavid pulled off a spin move in Detroit’s zone and fed a pass out front to Evander Kane, who buried his 19th goal of the season.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins added one more goal late in the third period to give the Oilers eight on the night. After going 13 games without an even-strength goal, Nugent-Hopkins scored two in the 8-4 win over Detroit. Connor McDavid also popped off with a career-high six assists.
