GDB 70.0 Wrap Up: Oilers gain ground on Kraken with big win in Seattle

Greetings from El Pinte! Final Score: 6-4 Oilers
Welcome to our Oilers game day content presented by NHL odds site Betway!
The Edmonton Oilers picked up a huge win on Saturday afternoon in Seattle, taking down the Kraken by a score of 6-4.
This was a huge win, not only because the Oilers picked up four points on a team right behind them in the Pacific Division standings, but because we celebrated Oilersnation’s 15th anniversary this afternoon.
Evander Kane led the way with a hat trick, Connor McDavid scored his 58th goal of the season, and Stuart Skinner made 28 saves in the win. Good vibes all around!

Things worth mentioning…
- This was a four-point win for the Oilers, as they’re now three points up on the Kraken in the Pacific Division standings with one more game played. The Oilers are now just three points behind the L.A. Kings in the standings and they’re four points back of the Golden Knights. The Kings play the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday while Vegas is back in action with a matinee game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday. Edmonton faces both L.A. and Vegas twice more each this season.
- Zach Hyman’s goal against Seattle was his 30th of the season. It’s the first time in his career he’s reached the 30-goal plateau and he’s also the oldest player to score 30 goals in a season for the Oilers. Previously, Ryan Smyth’s 30-goal campaign in 2006-07 when he was 30 years old had been the only such season in team history.
- Evander Kane’s hat trick against Seattle was the first by an Oiler against the Kraken. The Oilers have now had a player score a hat trick against every team in the NHL other than the Minnesota Wild.
