The Edmonton Oilers are so back.

On Thursday evening, they took on the Jets in Winnipeg, beating them by the score of 3-1. With their fourth win in a row, they are now 9-12-1. After picking up the two points, they have momentarily leapfrogged the Anaheim Ducks, pending the results of their game tonight.
Let’s look at the Oilersnation’s Player of the Game, as well as some things from the game that are worth mentioning.

<h2>Oilersnation’s Player of the Game: Ryan McLeod</h2>
Any time you score your first goal of the season after going 38 games without a goal, you’re going to get the Player of the Game award.
On Thursday, he assisted on the game-tying goal with less than seven minutes remaining for his fifth assist of the season, and then potted his first of the year on an empty net.
<a href="https://publish.oilersnation.com/2023/11/29/the-oilers-have-moved-on-from-young-forwards-too-quickly-plenty-of-times-in-the-past/">I recently wrote an article</a> on the history of the Oilers trading skilled bottom six players and how they can’t repeat the same mistakes by moving McLeod. Although his goal-scoring pace has fallen off compared to 2022-23, he’s controlling the pace of play and defending well.
All we can hope for is that this will give him some confidence to score some more.
<h2>Things worth mentioning:</h2>
Stuart Skinner has played much better since Jack Campbell was sent to the American Hockey League. On Thursday, he saved 25 of 26 shots for a .962 save percentage. Over his last nine games played, Skinner has a .905 save percentage, but the key for him is to be consistent.
Darnell Nurse has been playing quite well during their win streak, and that continued on Thursday as he scored his fourth goal of the season to tie the game late in the third. 
Leon Draisaitl scored his 10th goal of the season very late in the third on a power play to give the Oilers an improbable 2-1 lead, which didn’t seem possible with how Connor Hellebuyck was playing.

Connor McDavid cooled off in this game, picking up a single assist on Draisaitl’s power play goal. Still, he has 13 points over his last four games and has 29 points alongside Draisaitl. They’re inching ever so closer to the top of the league in points.
It’ll be a long while before Edmonton can hunt for their fifth straight win, as the next time they’re in action is on Wednesday, December 6, against Carolina at home. It&#8217;ll be a nice stretch of games at home for the Oilers, as Edmonton will play their next six games at Rogers Place, where they are 5-4-1 on the season.
