First, it was Sam Gagner notching his 300th point as an Oiler, THEN it was Connor McDavid achieving his third consecutive 60 assist season, AND NOW, it’s NUUUUUUGE! Nuge just scored the third goal of the game for the Oilers against the Vancouver Canucks, giving him a new career high, 57 points on the year!
After running into injury troubles for several years, Nuge has been due for a breakout season for a long time coming now. He’s been a consistent rock throughout his long tenure here in Edmonton and deserves nothing but the best. After showing offensive improvement year after year, Nuge has continued his growth this season, and it’s showing on the stats sheet.
It was a beautiful goal too! After winning a puck battle in the corner, Connor McDavid skated the puck out to the center of the ice where he saw Ryan Nugent-Hopkins waiting in the slot with his stick on the ice. Connor gives a swift pass over to Nuge who deflects it up and over the shoulder of the Vancouver goalie, giving the Oilers a 3-0 lead in the game. I love you Nuge, don’t ever change.
