Tuesday afternoon means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio to try and make sense of everything that’s happened over the last few days, and this past week has been one of the wildest in recent memory.
We started the podcast with a delicious debate about the firing of Jay Woodcroft and replacing him with Kris Knoblauch. Was it the right move to fire Jay Woodcroft after so many things went wrong that were out of his control? In the NHL, the coaches always pay the price for slow starts, and ultimately, that’s precisely what happened with Woody. Moving past Woodcroft being fired, we looked at the Ken Holland/Jeff Jackson press conference and how it seemed completely disjointed. There were mixed messages contradicting timelines, which left the fanbase angry and confused. Next up, we looked at the organization’s decision to hire Kris Knoblauch as the new head coach and whether it was the right decision. One thing is for sure: the Oilers chose to go with an up-and-comer instead of an old retread coach, as many of us expected they would if Woody got canned. Was Kris Knoblauch the right choice? Only time will tell. Lastly, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with a recap of the #NationVacation to Seattle and how much fun it was to get away and watch the team play in another city with a fantastic group of people. If you’ve never been on one of these vacays before then you absolutely have to join us for the trip to Arizona in February.
