Real Life Podcast: Halloween costumes, Sam Gagner’s return, and the growth of podcasting

Nov 2, 2023, 20:00 EDTUpdated: Nov 2, 2023, 17:00 EDT
There’s nothing better than wrapping up your week with a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast to make sense of what’s happening in the world.
Kicking off the Thursday episode of the podcast, the guys started with a random conversation about Celine Dion after Wanye read some news that he absolutely had to share while the intro was rolling. Needless to say, hearing that the Canadian pop icon isn’t doing well was enough to merit a quick conversation. Changing gears, the guys looked at the Oilers’ Halloween outfits and how the boys really leaned into the Harry Potter theme. However, not everyone was dressed as a wizard, as players like Leon Draisaitl, Mattias Ekholm, and Connor McDavid went the couples costume route. Changing gears, the guys then looked at the economics of podcasting after Tyler taught the guys that there’s a podcast in New York that pays Aaron Boone over $1 million/year to be a guest on their show. Hearing about an active MLB manager being on podcasts had the guys wondering what it would be like if Jay Woodcroft was ever willing to sit in on our nonsense. Would we be too nice? Would we question his lineup choices? Lastly, the guys wrapped up the Thursday episode of Real Life with a random collection of topics ranging from game day bets to a new segment Tyler pitched about news stories worth watching.
