<p>Well, what a week for Oil country!</p>
<p>The Oilers kicked off their week in Arizona with a <a href="https://oilersnation.com/news/game-74-wrap-up-edmonton-oilers-werent-perfect-but-they-got-the-job-done-in-5-4-win-over-arizona-coyotes">5-4 victory</a> over the Coyotes. Coming into this game after <a href="https://publish.oilersnation.com/2023/03/25/gdb-73-0-wrap-up-edmonton-oilers-caught-puck-watching-in-overtime-fall-4-3-to-vegas-golden-knights/">losing at home to Vegas</a> made it all the more important. The Oilers were looking to restart their win streak, and two power-play goals, one short-handed goal, and two even-strength goals would be enough to do the trick.</p>
<p>That game against the Coyotes was yet another start for Jack Campbell where the Oilers needed to score more than four goals to win a game. I guess they don&#8217;t ask how they ask how, they ask how many, and for Campbell, this was his 19th win of the year. If you were curious as to how I would tell you he made 29 saves on the night and held a .879 sv%.</p>

<p>The very next night on the second of back-to-back games, the Oilers Started Stuart Skinner, and unfortunately, he had quite the unlucky start, allowing a goal on the first shot of the night. Good news, Evan Bouchard did not like that, and he scored 37 seconds later to tie the game up. By the end of the first period, the score was 3-2 Oilers, and Nuge would already have one goal and two assists. ICYMI: It was Nuge night in Vegas because he did not stop there. He was racking up assists, getting one on each of the Oilers&#8217; two second period goals. One of these goals, also just happened to be EK300.</p>

<p>Vegas hosted Nuge night, and on Thursday, the Oilers came back for some <a href="https://oilersnation.com/news/stuart-skinner-sets-edmonton-oilers-franchise-record-for-wins-in-a-month">Skinner shenanigans</a>. It was a must-win game for both teams. As you might imagine, both teams couldn&#8217;t <strong>actually</strong> win this game. Before the game, The LA Kings were one point ahead of the Oilers, meaning they would jump the Kings and claim second place in the pacific division if they could win in regulation. It was a low-scoring affair (Shout out Stuart Skinner) as the <a href="https://oilersnation.com/news/gdb-76-0-wrap-up-oilers-rock-solid-in-2-0-win-over-the-kings-move-up-to-2nd-in-the-pacific-division">Oilers took the game 2-0</a>. Skinner made an incredible 43 saves to get his first shutout of the season.</p>

<p>The Oilers have not been able to shut out a team since game seven in the first round of last year&#8217;s Stanley Cup Playoffs. If you&#8217;re thinking about who that shutout could have come against, it was also the LA Kings. The goals came from Evander Kane, who scored his 15th of the season, and Connor McDavid, who scored his league-leading 61st goal and 300th career goal.</p>

<p>Safe to say, the vibes were good, and that certainly translated to the ice.  The first period was quiet up until the last 5:55 when Evander Kane and Frank Vatrano exchanged penalties, one for Kane and two for Vatrano, which put the Oilers on the power play. The Oilers did not score on the power play, but Zach Hyman would find a way to put one in the back of the net shortly after. In the second period, if you weren&#8217;t in your seats for the puck drop, you probably missed Leon Draisaitl&#8217;s 58th goal of the season&#8230; and guess where I wasn&#8217;t? In my seat&#8230;</p>

<p>He made it up to us by the end of the period, as he had then scored his second of the night and 49th of the season. Kennedy (CEO of the Leon Draisaitl fan club) and I were in the building along with Spencer and his new hat, and we were on hatty watch.</p>
<p>Going into the third period up 4-0, the vibes in Rogers Place were excellent, the beers were flowing, and everyone was having a good time. Connor must have sensed this because he decided we weren&#8217;t having a good enough time, and he then put us up 5-0 with yet another statement goal.</p>
<p>Leon Draisaitl has always struck me as the kind of guy who likes to finish a job. Last night was no exception, as you know, because he scored his <a href="https://nationgear.ca/products/f-king-phenomenal">50th goal of the season</a>, for the third time in his career, and completed his hat-trick.</p>
