This afternoon, we got a look at what the Oilers 2021-22 schedule will look like, and I’ve gotta admit, seeing these dates on the calendar already has me feeling excited. Let’s break it down.

After the 56-game COVID shortened season, we’re back to an 82-game schedule for 2021-22 with the plan being to have fans back in the building from the jump. When will that be exactly? I’m glad you asked. The Oilers will kick off the regular season with three divisional games against Vancouver, Calgary, and Anaheim with the first game against the Canucks happening on October 13th. From there, we’ll get back to our regularly scheduled programming of having the boys face off against every other team in the league, which will be nice to see after seeing only the six other Canadian teams for the entire season.

One wrinkle of having Seattle added to the Pacific Division is that there will be an unbalanced divisional schedule, meaning the Oilers will play four games against Calgary, Los Angeles, San Jose, and Vegas while only facing the Canucks, Ducks, and Kraken three times. Speaking of Seattle, the Kraken make their first visit to Rogers Place on Monday, November 1st, and the Oilers will make their first trip to Climate Pledge Arena on Friday, December 3rd. While it was not uncommon last season to have two and sometimes three-game series against the same club, there will much more variety this season as the boys will go up against every team at least once.
