Over the 16 years I’ve been contributing at Oilersnation, there have been plenty of moments where I’ve pinched myself and wondered if what we were doing was real. Did we really buy DailyFaceoff.com/HockeyFights.com? Did we really sign Frank Seravalli to be our insider when he left a major network? Today’s announcement that Jeff Marek is joining us was another one of those moments.

If you’re a lifelong hockey fan as I am, you’ve known Jeff Marek’s content for as long as you’ve been watching the sport. A fixture on TV, radio, and podcasts for decades, Marek has carved out a niche for himself as a premiere voice in the space, and we knew we had to jump at the opportunity when we found out there could be a chance to work together. Once we were finally able to get those conversations going, hearing that Jeff was excited and interested to be a part of the madness we’re building across the network had us feeling over the moon. We knew then that we had to get this deal done.
So, what will Jeff be working on? Let me point to the the press release over at Daily Faceoff:
In the coming weeks, Jeff Marek will launch a new show, along with a web content role at Daily Faceoff. You can expect a range of content, including:Hosting a brand new show – Marek will be at the helm of a new show called ‘The Sheet’ on Daily Faceoff (Apple Podcasts, Spotify), where he’ll dive into the latest news, rumours, and game insights across the NHL, PWHL, and junior hockey.Guest Appearances Across The Nation Network – As a guest, Marek will feature in various shows and segments across The Nation Network’s platforms, adding his voice to a range of discussions and breaking news coverage.Publishing Articles on DailyFaceoff.com – Beyond his on-camera work, Marek will be contributing written content to DailyFaceoff.com, offering fans and subscribers his analysis of the latest happenings around the league in a voice uniquely his own.
Personally, I’m so excited to see where Jeff’s content goes now that he’s able to work on different ideas and have the leash to try new things. Knowing how great of a story teller he is combined with his encyclopedic knowledge of the sport means that we can level up our offering once again. And as a long-time fan of what he does, I couldn’t be more excited for all of you to see what he’s got planned.
Marek’s addition to Daily Faceoff and The Nation Network is a significant move that aligns with the network’s ongoing commitment to expanding its content offerings for hockey fans. With his deep background in sports media, Marek will play an integral role in shaping how the network informs and engages its audience. His presence across TNN’s web and show platforms ensures that fans can look forward to in-depth commentary and well-rounded coverage from one of the most well-known voices in hockey.
Since Wanye and Jay founded Oilersnation back in 2007, the goal has always been to create authentic fan-driven content to Nation Citizens in a way that felt like we’re all on the same level. That said, those two also recognized the need to have established voices within the space to add a layer of credibility — Jason Gregor and Robin Brownlee were the answer there — and that mission has not changed. As much as it almost feels like a fever dream that we’re adding these bigger names to our roster, the plan remains the same. That’s why you’re still going to get written and podcast content from fans of the teams we love, but now we’re also bringing in fantastic talent like Jeff Marek to level up everything else.
From my side of the computer screen, this is a great day for our company and hopefully for all of you as well. The Nation Network took another step forward today, and the only reason we’re able to pull these things off is because of the incredible folks like you who have been here with us. Thank you, Nation. We appreciate all of you more than you will ever know.
