Ty Rattie to the IR, Cooper Marody recalled

According to the team’s official Twitter account, the Oilers have placed Ty Rattie on the Injured Reserve and have recalled Cooper Marody from AHL Bakersfield to replace him on the roster.
Rattie got hurt in Edmonton’s win against the Boston Bruins on Thursday and exited the game. He then missed Saturday’s game against the Nashville Predators and has subsequently been placed on the Injured Reserve. Todd McLellan said prior to the Nashville game that Rattie will be out for a few weeks. You can read more about Rattie’s injury here.
That creates an opportunity for Cooper Marody who has been killing it so far in the AHL. Marody, who was acquired from the Philadelphia Flyers for a third-round pick back in March, has two goals and a team-leading six points in five games for Bakersfield. He’s only played eight professional games, five this year and three last year to finish his season after he was finished with the University of Michigan, but Marody wouldn’t have to go through waivers when Rattie comes off the IR.
Kailer Yamamoto filled in Rattie’s spot on Connor McDavid’s wing and Alex Chiasson made his season-debut to fill the other open hole on the roster created by Rattie’s absence. It’ll be interesting to see where Marody plays or whether he’ll get an opportunity in a more offensive role with the Oilers.
