The kids in Bakersfield are starting to find their groove.

The Condors hosted the San Diego Gulls, the affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, on Wednesday evening and put together a dominant 5-1 win. Rookie forward Carter Savoie, Edmonton&#8217;s fourth-round pick from the 2020 draft, led the way with three goals, bumping his total up to eight on the season.
Savoie, who was playing on a line with veteran Brad Malone and 2021 first-round pick Xavier Bourgault, opened the scoring in the middle of the first frame by deflecting a point shot from defender Yanni Kaldis past San Diego goaltender Lukas Dostal&#8230;

After James Hamblin made the score 2-0 in the first period, Savoie opened the second frame with a power-play goal to extend Bakersfield&#8217;s lead to 3-0. Bourgault grabbed a rebound beside the net and fed it through the crease to Savoie for an easy tap-in&#8230;

Savoie came close to burying another goal a few minutes later. Bourgault stripped the puck in the neutral zone and he and Savoie turned around and busted in on a two-on-one. Savoie got himself open and Bourgault feathered him a nice pass but Dostal slide across the crease and made an excellent save. Malone would wind up scoring to put the Condors up 4-0 later in the shift&#8230;
