We&#8217;ve got ourselves a hockey game! The Junior Edmonton Oilers will take on the Baby Vancouver Canucks in the first match of this weekend&#8217;s Young Stars Classic in Penticton, British Columbia.

Rookie Camp started on Wednesday in Edmonton and the team will kick off their three-game round-robin style tournament on Friday evening. The Oilers Rookies will face the Calgary Flames Rookies on Saturday and will finish the weekend with a game against the Winnipeg Jets Rookies on Monday afternoon.
This weekend will be the first time for fans to see newly-acquired top prospects Matthew Savoie and Sam O&#8217;Reilly suit up in games for the Oilers. A native of Edmonton, the Oilers acquired Savoie from the Buffalo Sabres in the off-season, while O&#8217;Reilly was selected with the 32nd overall pick at this summer&#8217;s draft.
Some other notable players suiting up for the Oilers this weekend are defence prospects Beau Akey and Max Wanner. Akey was the team&#8217;s second-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft but missed much of last season because of an injury. Wanner was a seventh-round pick a few years ago and put together an impressive rookie season with the Bakersfield Condors.
