It’s happening! It’s really happening. Teams are travelling and arriving in Edmonton and Toronto as the hub cities, and the NHL has officially announced the teams’ playoff rosters.
Here’s the full list from the NHL:
Forwards: Josh Archibald, Andreas Athanasiou, Tyler Benson, Alex Chiasson, Leon Draisaitl, Tyler Ennis, Gaetan Haas, Zack Kassian, Jujhar Khaira, Cooper Marody, Connor McDavid, Ryan McLeod, James Neal, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Joakim Nygard, Patrick Russell, Riley Sheahan, Kailer Yamamoto
Defensemen: Ethan Bear, Matt Benning, Evan Bouchard, Philip Broberg, Caleb Jones, Oscar Klefbom, William Lagesson, Adam Larsson, Darnell Nurse, Kris Russell
Goaltenders: Mikko Koskinen, Stuart Skinner, Mike Smith
There’s not a ton of surprise from these rosters beyond the fact that Phillip Broberg has made the roster. When the Oilers full camp roster was announced, it was released that Broberg would return to Sweden and get ready for his SHL season. Instead, he stepped into camp and blew the doors off.
Earlier this week, Oilers GM Ken Holland came out and said Broberg was going to be making the team. That’s mighty impressive for last year’s eighth overall draft pick. This past year he scored eight points in 45 games with Skelleftea in the SHL.
There’s only a few cuts that were made to the Oilers roster. Mike Green had opted out before camps begun and it appears the only other cuts were to goalies Dylan Wells and Olivier Rodrigue.
