Happy Wednesday, Internet friends, and welcome to yet another chapter of your ol’ pal Baggedmilk’s adventures in radio. As I do every week, I jumped on the air with the boys on The Locker Room for a quick segment to talk about the Oilers while also offering my takes on anything else that’s going on in the world.
To kick off this week’s appearance, we jumped in with a look at hockey players getting older and how some of the names we grew up with are either retired or entering into the tail end of their careers. Seeing as Sidney Crosby just turned 34 a few days ago, it was interesting to talk about some of the stars that have seemingly been around forever and what they have left to accomplish in the National Hockey League. Take Alex Ovechkin, for example, and his pursuit of Wayne Gretzky’s goal record. Seeing as Ovi just signed a five-year contract extension, we wondered if he still has the juice and time left to catch the Great One’s seemingly untouchable record. Next up, we looked at Darnell Nurse’s monster contract extension that was signed this past week and whether or not he’ll be able to live up to the pressure that goes along with a cap hit that high. Personally, I think Nurse has a chance to do it if he can keep developing the way he has, but that doesn’t mean that there won’t be eyes on him that are hoping for him to fail.
